Hunting

Wow! This young lady shows off her first deer!

What if we all had the excitement of a child in the woods while hunting?  What if deer hunting was just deer hunting and not the newest camo pattern, the latest and greatest gadgets or topo apps on our smart phone, etc?

I can certainly remember back to my first deer which happened to be a small basket-rack buck.  He was standing along an old fence row covered with laurel one frosty November morning.  This particular buck had the ugliest rack but I did not care.  I made one well placed shot with my Remington 6 mm and my love for hunting whitetail deer was signed, sealed and delivered.  Thinking back to my first deer brings back great memories!  It was so long ago, I remember having on a TreBark camo shirt under my blaze orange vest.  After all the hard work was done, my Grandmother fried up those backstraps for dinner.  Her kitchen table is where we always gathered after everyone came in from their evening hunt.  The fellowship we shared at that table over a steaming hot dish of fresh venison that night remains one of my favorite parts of each hunt.  Of course, everyone wanted to hear my hunting tale that night, which after several hours of being rehearsed had gained new and exciting details.  If I close my eyes and think back, I can almost hear the laughter we all shared.

Watch as this young lady describes her first deer! What if we all had the excitement of a child in the woods while hunting?
