This Is One Shotgun Round You Never Want To Take A Hit From Especially At Close Range: Dragon’s Breath

The shotgun shells they are using in the video below are referred to as “Dragon’s breath”. In case you aren’t familiar with them, the “Dragon’s breath shotgun shell” means any shotgun shell that contains exothermic pyrophoric misch metal as the projectile and that is designed for the sole purpose of throwing or spewing a flame or fireball to simulate a flamethrower.

Taking a hit from one of these would be terrifying to say the least. So, the main question that people ask is; Is Dragon’s Breath ammo lethal? The muzzle blast, at close range, probably is. But it’s certainly not as lethal as a regular 12-gauge shell, which will separate you from your future in a split second, with no questions asked.

But if you do take a hit from one of these rounds, hopefully you have a fire extinguisher close by. Dragon’s breath rounds are banned in many locations, due to their inherent fire hazard. Even in areas where the round may be shipped, an extra fee for hazardous materials may be charged.

This is one type of ammunition that you don’t want to shoot in a dry area, like a field, or a heavily wooded forest, you could, if not very careful, start a wildfire that could soon get out of control and nobody wants that.
