[Warning Graphic Language & Violence] Man Gets Shot Charging Toward Police Officer With A Knife

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *

This particular incident started off simply enough on a late Wednesday afternoon, but as you will see in the video, it quickly escalated into a life-threatening situation that required the officers involved to use not only a taser, but also a firearm.

All the police initially wanted to do, was conduct a “well check” on the man to make sure he was alright. But as you will see, the man started cursing at the police and immediately started advancing after them with a knife in hand. Kudos to the officers involved, even though they drew their weapons, they retreated almost out of the house before discharging their firearms.

Thankfully, the man was not killed, but only wounded and the officers involved ended their shift content in the knowledge that they did not have to take a human life. All parties involved were grateful.

Here is a description of what you will see and hear in the video below:

Torrington, Connecticut — On March 23, 2022 at approximately 4:35 p.m., Litchfield County Dispatch (LCD) received a call that Brian Dungan, age 53, was at his home at 71 Tioga Street threatening to kill himself.

Upon receiving the call, LCD dispatched Litchfield County Dispatch Officers David Kisiel and Jeffrey Buzzi to 71 Tioga Street to conduct a well check on Brian Dungan. Officers arrived at approximately 4:39 p.m. Once there, the officers located Dungan in the basement of the home.

Dungan immediately advanced on the officers with a knife in his hand. The officers repeatedly directed Dungan to drop the knife to no effect. Officer Kisiel discharged a Taser that also was ineffective.

As Dungan continued to quickly advance with a knife, Officer Buzzi discharged his weapon three times striking Dungan. At 4:42 p.m., officers radioed, “shots fired” and requested an ambulance. Dungan sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Subsequently, he was flown by LifeStar to Hartford Hospital for treatment. He is listed in stable condition.
