.44 Magnum

In The Market For A Good .44 Magnum Revolver…Then Check These Out

While the .44 Magnum may have lost it’s title of “the most powerful handgun in the world”, it’s still not a pistol to be trifled with and there are many different manufacturers out there that make this iconic handgun. So, depending on your budget, there are many choices available when it comes to the .44 Magnum.

The .44 Magnum is well suited for game up to elk size. With precise shot placement and deep-penetrating cartridges, it has even been used to take the largest of game, including Cape Buffalo.

A .44 Magnum will give enough stopping power to disway and disable an intruder. Keep in mind that the . 44 Special will have an easier-to-handle recoil than the power snapback you’ll get from a . 44 Magnum.

For a bear cartridge anything equal to or more powerful than a . 41 Magnum or . 44 Magnum will be fine. Old-time black bear hunters say that any load that throws at least a 200-grain or bigger solid bullet at 1000 fps or more will take any bear in the woods.

There are some folks that might say that the .44 Magnum might be a little bit of ‘overkill’ for self defense. While the 44 Mag is by no means the world’s most powerful pistol cartridge, it’s more than powerful enough to IMMEDIATELY ‘neutralize’ even the most determined, crazy, or ‘drug-addled’ threat to your personal safety.

Common knowledge holds that you want a cartridge for self-defense that will hit a threat with 220 to 300 ft lbs of energy.

A .44 Magnum bullet can reach speeds of up to 1,380 feet per second, generating kinetic energy at the muzzle of 1,015 foot-pounds of force. That’s plenty of power, enough to take down up to deer-size game at distances of up to 50 yards at the least.

Anyway, all of that aside, watch the video and see what you think.
